Lolita is an orca captured August 8, 1970 from Washington State.
She has survived 45 years in a small tank at the Miami Seaquarium, performing daily, probably waiting to return home.
Lolita, first called Tokitae, is the last survivor of over 40 members of the Southern Resident community captured and delivered for display in theme parks before 1973.
Lolita remains a member of her family of birth, and still uses her L pod calls.
She could be safely transported to her home to retire and be cared for, free in her home waters, with the opportunity to rejoin her family.
